vbs to pin computer name to task bar RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I would like a script to run on a remote machine to pin computer name to the taskbar for all users. I can do it manually however, it only displays on the current users' taskbar when it was pinned. Any assistance is appreciated.

  • Saying what you want to do is not a scripting question.

Pinning is a per-user, not a per-computer, operation. What are you doing manually?

  • This is what I have been doing in the past

    1. Right click the task bar
    2. Select Toolbars
    3. Select New Toolbar
    4. Type:  \\%computername%\
    5. Click Select Folder

If it is not per-computer maybe I can create a script to have user execute to pin to their task bar.

Maybe, but there are other solutions for showing a computer name on the desktop. For example there is a free program called BgInfo that shows computer information on the desktop. I would recommend this approach instead of what you're doing now.
