SCCM Software distribution priority

Question

Hello everyone
i just noticed slow download for software packages, i opened CAS.log and found the download priority is low as shown below
CAS log
Requesting content RMX00046.1, size(KB) 57756, under context S-1-5-21-184627253- with priority Low
i went to the advertisement and the package, the priority was medium, i changed it to high, then reinitiated the download from "run advertised programs" and still in CAS log the priority is low, how to change it to high?
for software updates the priority is set to foreground, the updates download faster?
Thanks

You don't prioritize adverts, you prioritize packages/content. This dictates when they are transferred to child sites. Actual throttling to child sites is dictated by the properties set in the sender.
I do *think* it also orders content download to clients when clients have multiple applicable packages that they need to download, but that is strictly which package is downloaded in what order and not anything else if it does.

Package priority does not affect the package download process unless you have sender throttling configured. Even with this configured, there is no transfer rate difference between the different priorities. Additionally package priorities have nothing to do with client content download. If you are experiencing "slow" package transfer rates, you should investigate other things like network bandwidth availability, BITS throttling, or server/client performance in general (to name a few).

I see, but why do we prioritize advertisements? i guess to sort which advertisement will be sent first to the client, windows updates with high priority will be downloaded first as i noticed with clients and then software packages, i know both updates and packages will use same transfer rate cause they both use BITS.
I beleive prioritrization is required somehow.

Strange Jason, in Configmgr 2007 each advertisement has priority, what it does?
check advertisement properties.
