Moving Users to a new domain (temporarily) RRS feed

  • Trying to determine the best way of performing his temporary transition.  We are currently running in a Hybrid configuration with Lync 2013/Skype for business online.

    Our current domain (mycompany.com)  points to the onprem sip entry of sip.mycompany.com and the users sip address is user@mycompany.com

    We are implementing a VOIP solution that will integrate with SKype online but requires the domain not to be in hybrid mode.  So either we migrate all users out to Skype online (Which we cannot do at this time)  or we create a temp domain (tempmycompany.com) which points to sipfed.online.lync.com and change the users sip address to user@tempmycompany.com.  Once all the users have been migrated, We can then switch mycompany.com to sipfed.online.lync.com and change all the users sip addresses back to user@mycompany.com.

    How disruptive will it be for the users to perform this temp sip domain change.  (and when I mean temp, it is 6-8months)

    Is there a way to forward a request that arrives for user@mycompany.com to user@tempmycompany.com?
