Outlook registry setting

    Question

  • I want to propagate a registry setting via GPO that does two things:

    1. Uncheck "remember password / save password" box on Outlook 2013

    2. Disable this option (should be greyed out), from being changed by users

    How can I achieve this?

I'm not sure which "remember password / save password" option in Outlook 2013 you are referring to. But we do have a related Group Policy setting in Outlook ADMX template, which can be used to disable the "Remember password" option for users:

User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Microsoft Outlook 2013/Security/Disable “Remember password” for Internet e-mail account

When configured, this policy will hide the 'Remember Password' checkbox and not allow users to have Outlook remember their password.

If you haven't installed Office 2013 ADMX templates, then you can download them here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35554

    Hope this helps.

If it´s not inside the Office(Outlook) ADMX Templates provided by
Microsoft, you need to research and propagade the registry value with
    GPP (if it exists)

"grey out" is a interaction with the .\policies\.. registry entry.
developed by the outlook programmers. If it´s not in the ADMX, it will
be a preference, not a policy and it will remain changeable during the
users session until the GPP applies again.
