O365 - Multiple display names?

    Question

  • Hello!

I've been looking through internet and couldn't find that much of an info about having multiple display name for a user in O365. Is there a way to achieve that?

    Sincerely,

    flyingJet

Traditionally in Exchange, the SimpleDisplayName can be set to a different value for messages sent externally. Havent tested that in 365.

You can try to use ChooseFrom 365 cloud service to do that.

  • Hi FlyingJet,

Do you want to set multiple value of SimpleDisplayName?
    If so, we cannot.

However, we can deploy multiple email address (email alias) for one mailbox. For example:
This user has a primary address and two aliases.
More information, for your reference: Add another email alias for a user

    Hi Allen,

you are right - you can deploy multiple email address (email alias) for one mailbox. But you can't send as alias.

  • @Victor, when you add a email alias for one account, it will be added as a proxy email address on this mailbox too.
Then, we can use this proxy email address to send message.

Really? Could you please describe in details what should I do to send as email alias?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Victor,

    In Office 365, it's true.
When we add an additional alias in Office 365 portal, then it will add a proxy address for this mailbox.
So, we can switch "From" to "alias@domain.onmicrosoft.com", and send out.

    Allen Wang

..and external recipient will receive a message from the default account, not from the alias.

Did you do it yourself, Allen?
