Windows 8.1 support RRS feed

  • Question

  • Do you have any plans to support Windows 8.1 and early Windows 10 versions? It seems like a lot of work to get all clients upgraded for ATP have effect. Thanks.

  • Hi,

We currently have no concrete plans to port the sensor code to older OS versions. We think it is worthwhile for customers to upgrade to the latest Windows 10 release as it's gains are much more than just ATP.

ATP is just one of a suite of security enhancements made in Windows 10 which are all working together to better protect enterprise users by significantly reducing the attack surface, increasing resistance to attacks and improve the services for monitoring the endpoints. Microsoft highly recommends upgrading to the latest Windows 10 release in order to make sure machines are as secure as possible against modern sophisticated attacks.

ATP sensors are an integral part of the OS core, which gives it advantage in terms of visibility to what happens in the OS and other security features of the OS and also ensures it relies on standard OS infra to work (and as a result reduce impact on CPU, memory and network).
