Suddenly it takes a long time to check in projects RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, we've been using Project Online for a while. The performance has never been great but at least acceptable. However, starting from yesterday, it suddenly takes a very long time to check in a project (more than 10 minutes). This happens to all projects, newly created or existing one. Any ideas? The projects are not large. Each project as about 30 tasks, and only one user is using Project Online at the moment. We have about 20 projects in all.

Similarly, it suddenly takes a long time to launch a provider hosted app. The time is spent in redirecting. Once redirecting finishes, the provider hosted app opens very quickly. As a test, I tried to open the provider hosted app's URL directly without redirecting from SharePoint, and it opened instantly.

Other features are still working fine, although a bit slower than usual. For example, it takes about 20 seconds to save a project, but at least it works.

The only thing I've done is to add an additional custom fields to project. We already have about 20 custom fields. I understand it is recommended to keep the number of custom fields small for tasks, but our custom fields are mainly on the project level.

I don't have any inkling on what might be going on...

  • For project online performance issues, It would be best if you contact the MS support service, they are the ones really having the insight to the infrastructure and related things, they would be able to help more quickly than anyone else :) If you are not the Admin, you may ask your Admin to shoot a request online for support

  • Hello,

Is there anything on the Service Health page on the Office 365 tenant admin page?

  • I'm not the Office 365 admin, so I don't know the service health status. But today it suddently started to work fast again. I haven't done anything. Maybe it was really a service degradation... Hope this won't happen again.
