how i calculate if a list of holidays present or not in between the Start and End Dates

hi..everyone,
i am developing Leave management System using share point 2010 foundation,i need help here to count holidays is presents between Start date and End date.
i have holidays list like below,
Title date
New Year 1/01/2011
Christmas 12/25/2011
and i have leave request form with both Start Date and End Date fields .....here how i calculate if holidays present or not in between the Start and End Dates.And if any presents then how i calculate the number of total Leave days requested by user.pls help me to find the answer for this scenario

Hi Charles Michel,
I would suggest looking into the SharePoint 2010 formulas that are available if you haven't already. I have linked them below. While there are quite a few things that you can do through the calculated columns, it seems like it might be going into developmental territory. I'll move your post on to the SharePoint 2010 forum to gain some further visibility into this.

Considering your requirement and the formula capabilities of SharePoint, I feel this requirement cannot be addressed with OOTB. I would request you to setup a tiny event handler on adding/editing leave request to find the date difference and the existance of Holidays (stored in a seperate list/ source) to findout the actual days of leave.
