Windows Auto Resize RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with the auto resize feature (Win7Snap) switched off, yet, for some programmes (including Windows Media Player), I only have to move the window slightly in order for it to suddenly become a full screen window. I can then shrink the window again and it will stay OK unless I accidentally move it when again it suddenly becomes full screen. Has anyone else had this problem and is there any way of preventing it?

  • Hi,

It seems the Windows 7 Aero Snap is still working. Please double check whether this feature is turned off.

Disable Aero Snap Auto Maximize and Arrange Window in Windows 7

If the Aero Snap is turned off, please check the following register key:

Note: Please refer to this knowledge base (KB) article to back up the registry key.

    1.Run Register Editor (RegEdit).

2.Navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

3.In the right-pane, double click (or right click and select Modify) on WindowArrangementActive, and set its REG_SZ value to 0.

    4. Close Registry Editor

    5. Log off and log on again, or restart computer for the change to take effect

If the issue still persists, please refer to following steps.

    1. Create a new user accountto test the issue.

    2. test the issue in Clean Bootmode.

    Hope it helps.
