Moving to DAG - reconfiguration needed? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

our Exchange MBX boxes are protected by DPM 2010; no DAG configuration currently.
We would now like to install another MBX box and configure a DAG for added redundancy/uptime.

Is there any reconfiguration in the protection group or on the agent (or ..) necessary or will DPM pick up the new DAG status automatically?

Thx in advance for help and/or pointers!

  • Hi,

I never saw that in production but i'd say the following:

as DPM is protecting the DAGs differently from standalone mailbox nodes i think you should unprotect then protect your databases with DPM.

While unprotecting retain the previous data and then it should reaffect it to the new PG.

This is because with DAGs you need to configure full/copy backups for your Exchange database.
