Timesheet - Prepopulation and Population after Timesheet Creation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello ,

We face some issues with the deployment of Timesheets in PWA 2013.

We've choose to pre-populate timesheets only with projects people are currently assigned to. People may fill in their timesheet at project level.

The projects from the Project Center contain tasks that are assigned to resources. In some cases people who add a project to their timesheet may deploy the project and add individual tasks. In some cases they may not... I do not find the any difference between the cases where they may and those where they may not .

Thanks in advance for your help !

  • Have changes to the tracking method employed been changed since the projects were created and published?

Are resources booking types all set to "Committed" rather than "Proposed" for the Projects where they are on the Projects Team as a result of being added using the Build Team from Enterprise dialog box?

Are there any "Resource Plans" associated with any of the projects?

If I understand you correctly, you want to assign resources to tasks in Project, however you want them to report at the project level only. If that is the case, I would consider setting the default assignment owner for every resource to a dummy logon.

Understand that there is no perfect solution to this problem because of the add task feature. Training and performance is your best bet.

  • Hi Xavier,

It might depend on whether the user is assigned or not to a task in the project (not only added to the project team). Can you check this out and tell us if it is relevant?

    Hope this helps,

  • Hello Guillaume,

Thanks a lot for you quick answer.

Unfortunately, users are assigned to tasks in the projects. Another idea ?

    Kind regards,

    Xavier

  • Hello Dominic,

    Hello Gary

We found the root causes :

    - Resources have to be comitted

    - The assignee has to be owner of the assignment.

Now the system is perfectly in line with our needs .

Thanks a lot for your input !

    Regards ,
