open each folder in its own window RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Vista i have the problem that the option "open each folder in its own window" does not work anymore.

Enabling it or disabling it does not change it!

    Any solution pls?

I have Avast, Nero, Anydvd + clonedvd , Ccleaner installed (all Vista versions)

  • I am experiencing the same problem, all of my folders open in a new window in explorer even though i have reset all folder options to defaults, and double checked that 'open in a new window' is unchecked. This is verified by the fact that my 'default action' for a folder in explorer is 'explore' and not open, but still it acts as if the open action has occured.

Other people are experiencing this problem as well, as noted by http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1215422&SiteID=17

I found something that works for me.

    1. Download ShellExView http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

    2. Find the extension "explore"

    3. enable it, if it is disabled.

    4. restart.

    hope this helps.
