SERVER1_4013_Warning_Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Server-Service_DNS Server_9/29/2018 8:56:18 AM RRS feed

  • Question

  • The DNS server is waiting for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to signal that the initial synchronization of the directory has been completed. The DNS server service cannot start until the initial synchronization is complete because critical DNS data might not yet be replicated onto this domain controller. If events in the AD DS event log indicate that there is a problem with DNS name resolution, consider adding the IP address of another DNS server for this domain to the DNS server list in the Internet Protocol properties of this computer. This event will be logged every two minutes until AD DS has signaled that the initial synchronization has successfully completed.

  • Hi,

Please check the following thread which is the issue in a similar situation as yours to see if it helps.

Event 4013: The DNS server is waiting for Active Directory Domain Services

Event ID 4013: “The DNS server is waiting for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to signal…"

Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

Please also run the command dcdiag /test:dns to verify the AD-integrated DNS in the domain.

If the issue persists, we then try to type the command "net stop netlogon"  & "net start netlogon"  & “ipconfig /registerdns” on the DNS server to re-register AD records. Restart DNS service to see if it can work.

Hope above information can help. If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let me know.

    Best regards,

    Michael
