Updating multiple projects with the same change. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have multiple projects that run each year, and each one is based off the same template. We have about 10 changes to the template each week. With each change, I need to ask the project manager for each project to make those updates to their respective projects.  After those changes are made, those projects now look just like the template.

Is there a way to clone changes from one project to the next?

These projects are all stored on sharepoint and it'd be nice if I could just push the changes to those files.

What I am trying to understand is why you are continually updating the template.  That makes no sense to me, but maybe I am just being dense on a Saturday.  I would recommend that you create the final form of the project template and then leave it alone.

As far as cloning the changes to each project, there is no easy automatic way to do this, unless you can write some VBA code to clone the changes into each project.  Otherwise, each PM will need to make the changes manually.

I think you need to examine your current process of using Microsoft Project and Project Online.  Hope this helps.

  • Hi RickJames8,

Are you talking about the Project Site template or the Project Plan template? As Dale mentioned, this doesnt make sense if it is the Project Plan template but more likely to be the Project Site? Eitherway, I dont understand why you have 10 changes to the template each week - unless I have misunderstood?
