Covering Exchagne 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Looking for clarification.

I have a Exch 2010 server, that contains a single C: drive only.  All databases, logs, operating system files, etc. are all on C:.

If that server is backed up with DPM using:

    1. System State

    2. Bare Metal Recovery

    3. Exchange private information store

    4. Exchange public information store

Is that everything I need to restore Exchange in the event of failure?  Or, do I also need to backup the individual C: drive?  I guess I don't see that to be necesary at this point.

    Thanks

    Hi ITTechS1T,

For the most part that looks good. Bare Metal Recovery automatically includes System State. It also will include the C Drive. If you think you will have a need to restore individual items from the C drive you should protect it as well. You will not be able to drill into the C drive from the BMR data. The BMR will restore the server as a whole. You will also want to protect the databases so you can restore mailboxes.
