  • Question

  • Hi,

We have 8 Node Hyper V cluster and one VM on host 7 stuck in backing up state. while we're using Acronis Backup for all these Hosts and included this VM. Any suggestion to bring the VM back to normal. i did google and find to restart hyperV vmms service but if there is any downtime for VMs running on this host 7.

  • Virtual machines that are running will continue to run. However, you won't be able to manage virtual machines, or create or delete them until the service is running. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/best-practices-analyzer/the-hyper-v-virtual-machine-management-service-must-be-running

  • Hi AttiQ Ati,

You could also check the thread discussed before.

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/c1939257-cc10-4238-a2da-b849cd6499f0/windows-2012-hyperv-manager-says-virtual-machine-status-backing-up-why?forum=winserverhyperv

In addition, Since this is windows server backup, we mainly focus on the build-in feature, windows server backup.

May I ask you use Acronis Backup to do the backup? If so, it is also suggested you contact the 3rd party backup software vendor to do a check.

    Best Regards,

    Mary
