SharePoint Services 3.0 SP3 broken after installing KB2687442 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Installed KB2687442 on SharePoint services 3.0 SP3. All options for uploading documents, changing views, changing permissions etc.. are missing for all users, including those with full control permissions on all pages. For example the New, Upload, Actions, Settings options are gone from all pages. As are the Modify this view and Create view options in the View dropdown menu.  After the update was installed I was presented with this error when trying to access the company intranet: Cannot connect to the configuration database.  A server reboot allowed access to the company intranet but now no one can add/remove documents etc..

  • I have a good backup from before the patch was installed.  Can I restore the backup over the top of the existing site using stsadm?

    Thanks.

  • I'm having exactly the same problem.

We have 5-6 sharepoint applications, and the problem just applies on one of them. Somebody help us?

  • In my case it looks like the update may have locked sharepoint to install then the unlock failed.  I used stsadm to unlock and everything came back to normal.

    Stsadm.exe –o setsitelock –url http://servername -lock none

  • Hi FordRacer

I have tried what you suggested however the responce I get from the Cmd prompt is as follows:

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.

    C:\Windows\system32>Stsadm.exe -o setsitelock -url http://companyweb/ -lock none

    Command line error.

    Usage:
               stsadm.exe -o <operation> [<parameters>]
               stsadm.exe -help [<operation>]

    Do you have any ideas?
