Cannot add resource in Microsoft Project that syncs to Sharepoint Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Cannot add resource in Microsoft Project that syncs to Sharepoint Online.  When I do so it says the resource does not exist on the Sharepoint user.

I've already checked permissions for this user on SHarepoint and they have access to the project site (which has unique permissions) directly through a mail enabled security group already.

It really does sound like a large number of users have had this problem.  Support engineers are telling people to create even more posts about this issue.

    Microsoft, please support your products!

  • BTW, because it's very obvious the cause of this issue is lack of good support between Microsoft product ecosystem  (sharepoint online and project), I will share a hack that worked to solve my problem:

For all resources that you want to track costs for:

    * Simply add the first/ last name of the resource of interest

    * Use a super administrator email for the email address for that resource name.

BOOM! Now your .mpp file isn't broken & uploads to Sharepoint.  Really Microsoft? This is disappointing....
