Guest Account Desktop Shortcuts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi...

Frequently we enable the 'Guest' account on our Windows 7 Pro machines when we need users to have very limited access. Basically its for temp users to log into the machine for a couple of hours only to use the internet only. There is no desktop shortcut on the Guest account for Internet Explorer and given the limited access that account has, I'm unable as a 'Guest' user to create a shortcut for it.

How can I create a desktop shortcut for Internet Explorer, for the 'Guest' account? And it would be GREAT if I could do it through a group policy since I have well over 200+ workstations :)

    Thanks... Frank

  • Hi,

Based on my understanding, when you log in Windows 7 with a Guest account, you can still use Internet Explorer which locates in taskbar.

But you could try to add the shortcut in C:\Users\Public\Desktop for test.
