Is it possible to give the PerformancePoint Items translations?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • the situation is like this:

I have the An SSAS cube with translations and when i shift the MUI language from SharePoint Portal all the data and dimensions shift the language correctly. But My problem is with PerformancePoint components, They need to have a translation also:

By PerformancePoint Components i mean the KPI Title, Scorecard Title, Chart Title ... by default they take the language set in PerformancePoint. Is there a way to make those compatible with the MUI languange ?

  • I've wondered about this one, too. There does not seem to be any facility to translate any of the text you enter into the PerformancePoint Designer.

For the project I'm working on, we are not at the point where we need to offer our dashboards in other languages, but we expect that we will need this in the future.

One thought we had was that we could use the PerformancePoint 2010 Content Deployment Tool to make localized copies of dashboard pages, but that's probably only going to be appropriate if you have separate language-specific sites.

Another idea we considered would be to run client-side jQuery script that would substitute localized strings at run-time.

It's possible I've overlooked something, so if anybody knows of a better way to do this, please let us know.

  • Hello,

Your Dashboards will be translated based on your SharePoint MUI pack as long as you have your site enabled for MUI.  A setting that can affect what you see is the Language Settings= Overwrite Translations.

Besides SharePoint MUI, you need to have Analysis Services Translation feature if your data is coming from SSAS.

  • hello,

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the replies on this but actually what i meant is as following:

In the dashboard designer, you name the components (KPI, Report, scorecards, Filters), the names you put in the dashboard designer are the ones to be taken in the Dashboard Page, now i cannot find a way to translate those items.

I found this a bit odd since we can translate all the data but not actually what the data is contained in. Now i was able to create a custom MUI webpart that allows me to set the translations of the different PerformancePoint webparts, which works with the MUI but until now this only works for the Reports and scorecards Titles, i still need to figure out how to make it possible to translate the filter component names, and KPIs items and the Dashboard names.

  • The titles of the performance point dashboards do not appear to be translatable. Can MSFT please clarify?
