Does ProClarity Requires SSAS installed on same server? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi,

We are planning to setup a new server (say server A) for ProClarity and want it to connect to a SSAS db on different server (say server B). So is it require to have SSAS installed on server A?

In the ProClarity requirements, I see SSAS is listed as an additional requirement (like IIS). But if we setup a server just for ProClarity then does it require SSAS or not?

    Thanks in advance,

    Niteen

  • Hi Niteen,

ProClarity does not require SSAS to be on the same machine as PAS.  In fact it's recommended that they be separated for security reasons.  SSAS is listed as required for PAS is that PAS will not be able to do much without an SSAS cube to connect to.  Also note that in a distributed environment you will likely need to configure the Kerberos protocol to carry the credentials from the PAS server to the back-end server(s).
