Product Key Will Not Validate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I reformatted my Windows 7 Ultimate dirve today and reinstsalled my Ultimate upgraded from scratch.  It had been Validated, Activated and running for about 6 to 8 months. When I entered the Product Key this time I received the following message: "The product key is not valid. Please retyp the product key."

Of course I have retype the key many times with the same results.  I also compared it to a printed copy of Belarc Advisor that I made just before reformatting.  The key code on the Windows 7 packaging, the Belarc Advisor printout, and what I am typing all agree.  Anyone have any ideas or advice?

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
      - **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

  • Please Telephone Microsoft. As they can help with issues such as activation problems.

Sometimes an activation code may be needed before you can obtain a product key.
