App-V client 4.6 crashing on XenApp 6.5 Worker Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have started seeing the App-V 4.6 client crashing in our XenApp 6.5 environment.  When trying to launch any App-V published application on one of our XenApp Worker Servers the following window appears:

Microsoft Application Virtualization Launcher has stopped working

    -          Check online for a solution and close the program

    -          Close the program

    Problem Details

    -          Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

    -          Application Name: sftlp.exe

    -          Fault Module Name: sftlp.exe

    -          Exception Code: c0000005

    -          Exception Offset: 0001e519

    -          Additional Information: 0a9e

The sftlog.txt contains the following errors:

The Application Virtualization Client could not launch xxxxxxx

An unexpected error occurred.  Report the following error code to your system administrator

    Error code: 4625DD4-1D500719-00001001

The App-V service has been restarted but made no difference to the issue.  A reboot of the XenApp 6.5 Worker Server resolves the problem.

This happens intermittently on the Worker Servers which are all assigned to the same vDisk.  The error code seems to be very generic therefore it is difficult to pinpoint the underlying issue.

Has anybody else experienced this problem and if so is there a fix available?

    Environment Details

    App-V Client – 4.6.2.24020

XenApp 6.5 with Hotfix Rollup Pack 2 installed

    Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit)
