    How do I ADD a SQL Alias to a farm that is already installed and configured and runs perfectly with no disruption to users?

  • No disruption is unlikely. You should schedule downtime. But you can use cliconfg.exe to add the alias to each SharePoint server.

    Agree with Trevor, before adding SQL alias, we need to stop all SharePoint services. After successfully added the SQL alias, we need to restart all services for SharePoint Server and reboot SharePoint Server.
