Windows XP Being Dropped RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.  I love Windows XP.  I have no plans on upgrading to dumb down 7.  So, what happens if a person installs XP after Doomsday April, 2014?  Will they still be able to activate their XP installation.  Will there be a patch or something so XP can be registered.  I think that would be unfair if Microsoft pulls the plug on activation after April 2014.  Because they are trying every kind of scheme to get people off XP.  It was alright when XP kept Microsoft afloat.  But now Microsoft wants nothing to do with XP.  No cash coming in I guess.  I want to be able to still activate XP any time.  Please tell me the activation will stay around.

  • Hi,

Microsoft already has announced activation will keep on workign for Windows XP.

When comparing to other software distributors, Microsoft does a very good job in keeping support running for a long time (XP was released over 10 yeares ago!). Most distributors only support the latest version or possibly 1 version behind. Please consider the effort it takes to continously support software.

Just as your warranty on hardware expires, the support on software expires.... All good things come to an end!

  • Not for me.  And I'm glad the activation will work.  Maybe they'll come out with a updated XP2 in the future that acts like XP.  Other wise I'll wait and see what Windows 9 has to offer.  Because I hate 7 more than 8.
