Project Server 2010: After rebuilding the Reporting database, the custom field view name has changed. Is this expected behaviour? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We suspected a problem in the Reporting database, so rebuilt it (using Backup and Reinstall Custom fields from Server settings). After this one of our reports has failed, it is set to point to a custom field view(MSPCFPRJ_AA Catalog_AssociationView) , and the error message says that view can't be found. Another view of a similar but not same name now exists(MSPCFPRJ_AA-base Catalog_AssociationView). The name of the field, by the way, is AA-base Catalog. Is this behaviour expected? Is there any way I can control the naming? We will also have a problem with the fields if the custom field storage changes (from the Var0, Str0 and Lookup tables). Any way to handle this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • When you Rebuild the reporting server from Administrative Backup. It restore the previous backed up reporting database and if previous back up copy will not have recent configuration changes  (Custom filed, view, Look up etc). It means not your Publish and reporting DB are not in sync. Try to sync your DB.

Reporting Database refresh(Rebuild) will be started and it takes some time. So try to start outside normal working hours. And be patient, add Job Completion State "Success" to queue, to see that something is done.

Build the Cube again. See the link and follow the step
