'Virtual-Machine' failed to start. RRS feed

  • Question

  • When attempting to turn on one of my Virtual Machines I was greeted by the following message:

"Failed to create memory contents file 'F:\Hyper-V\Virtual Machines\AC9...\AC9CDDB9-F59C-41D1-B76F-C94EE29CA04F.bin' of size 4096 MB"

I checked the physical hard drive and it has 2.06Gb\1.76Tb remaining of its hard drive.

    Please Help!

    Thanks In Advance

  • Yep that is correct.

I am relatively new to virtual machines, but am I right in saying that that 2gb is reserved for new virtual machines. Both my virtual have static hard drive sizes.

Increase the size to 4 to 6 Go and try again.

  • Seems to me like a permission issue on the SID. Have a look here how to grand permissions to the service SID.

  • Hi FrenchITGuy,

I cleared up some of the unused VHD's and I was able to turn on the needed VM's.

    Thanks for your help though.
