Deny database view Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - Performancepoint Dashboard Designer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

If I use the 'Use Standard Connection' in Dashboard Designer en type my sql servername, I can view the list of all my databases for any user. I already tried:

    USE MASTER
    GO
DENY VIEW ANY DATABASE TO [DOMAIN\user]
    GO

But the database list still shows up. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

    Thanks!

  • As far as I know, it would be because the account used to configure Performance Point Services Application in Sharepoint is highly privileged account (usually an admin or service account). And would have access to all databases.

Either restrict the rights for service account (dont think it would be recommended).

Or use per user identity to pass on credentials of logged in user in Data source connection tab of Dashboard designer.
