Ram Utilization is not fully shown RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

I am using Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate Edition on my AMD x4 with 6GB DDR3 1333 Ram.  The Ram is being used up heavily sometimes. Under normal circumstances it is about 1.5 gb 1.8gb at max, but some times it is reaching 2.5GB to 3GB with no additional program running.  Also, the Task Manager and Resource Monitor also does not show what program is using the additional ram.  I used the Process Explorer to export data at the time of 2.8GB instance and I totaled the ram and it is only coming to 1.6GB only.  Following are the links to the files:

    Details from Process Explorer:

It would be very educational to be able to understand what is going wrong or how to find out more.  Thanks in advance.

  • I see no problems in your pics at all. Difference may be explained with different program's activity (e.g. working with a large files) so working sets could be reduced. Or some programs may map a files into RAM.

You may use RamMap64 for more detailed analysis.

  • Look at Mapped file  line. This number is count as used by gadget and resource monitor but does not belong to any program.

  • I have used the RamMap but could you please tell to what exactly (which column I need to see into) I need to see. The problem is that I cant export data from RamMap to text.
