Tape Sled removed (permanently) and now library not functioning efficiently RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an HP MSL 4048 on firmware 9.6 and we have 4 drive in the library. 3 of them are LTO7 fiber channel to our production DPM server running 5.1.378.0 and the last one is a LTO5 SAS to another server, for older data.

The Production DPM server is saying that the library is not functioning efficiently. I have tried to remove the LTO5 drive from the library and reboot all with no success. Is there anyway to clear this warning for good? I read about remapping drives but wanted to get a better idea.

    Thanks you!!

  • Hi,

I believe the remapping would be the best thing to try here, however you could also try using the Windows driver (ltotape.sys) for the tape drive, it used to help in older DPM versions as far as I know.

    1. Open the Device Manager.
    2. Locate the tape drive.
    3. Right-click and look at the Properties.
    4. Under the Driver tab, select "Update Driver".
    5. Select the Install from list or specific location (Advanvced) - next.
    6. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. - next.
    7. Uncheck the Show comtabile hardware checkbox.
    8. Highlight LTO under the manufacturer.
    9. Highlight the LTO tape drive under model - then next.
    10. This should install the Microsoft ltotape.sys driver.
    11. Rescan the tape library in the DPM console.

    Best regards,
