    Can OCS dial a 10 digit number then pause and dial a 3 or 4 digit external extension similiar to how a Blackberry can?

    Or if a user has a contact displayed as 613-555-5555 x5555  

    can it drop anything after the 10th digit

    No, the standard Lync client does not support pauses in the dialing string.  You'd need to write a customer client via the APIs to do something like that.
