    1. is it possible to BMR restore to a different hardware or even a VM?

     

    2. how long will it take for the BMR to complete restore, say a server with 100gb size(os+data)

    Yes you can restore BMR backup to alternate hardware. Only Requirement is if you are restoring a 32 Bit OS backup then you need to use 32 bit Setup/Install media/WINRE media to restore it. BMR recovery is very efficient, its even faster than backup, it uses the disk/network to its maximum available speeds.
