Project Online: Enabling access to External Project Manager RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Read a few posts of people who have been successful in granting access to external project manager to their project online instance, while there does not seems to have any official support for this.

    The constraint was:

    • Office 365 tenant subscriber and project online professional licenses

I have enable external access to my PWA.

My external users still get the error message "Sorry, you don't have a license to use Project Web App").

    Example:

    • user@companyA.com (Office 365 user with Project Online license) tryting to access my PWA (companyB.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa).

Anyone manage to do the same?

    Thanks

    Gonzague.

  • Hi,

I believe that this feature was released in September 2017.  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Using-Project-Online-with-external-users-f305a365-3d81-48bc-a3d0-4260e7326899.  I haven't personally tried it though.

  • Hi Gonzague, external access is not supported in Project Online. Everyone who wants to access Project Online needs both, the permissions and the subscription to the respective PWA. • Thanks Julian.

Found this documentation, that explain on how to set it up:

As mentioned, you will need to provision a subscription for project online for the external users in your PWA ... even if the users have already a project online license in another domain ... Thanks MS ... :-(
