Non Windows DHCP and secure dynamic updates with DNS RRS feed

    Currently we are using Windows 2003 R2 AD with integrated DNS which allows both secure and non secure dynamic updates. We are planning to Migrate the DCs / Domain to Windows 2008 R2. Currently we configured DHCP with Cisco switches and it won't register DNS records on behalf of the clients. Our concern is if we change the dynamic DNS updates to secured one will the windows clients be able to register with secured DNS or should we go for Windows 2008 DHCP to register clients on behalf of them with DNS. Please suggest

    Thanks for posting here.


    Clients which running Windows 2000 or above versions can natively update their DNS records itself, you can try to manually update it on client by running “ipconfig /registerdns ” and see how is going. Take look the thread below first :
