Approval Center don't load for some project leaders RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

On Project Server 2010, we have two project leaders who can't go on the Approval Center.

When they click on it, it loads, loads, loads but don't finish to a view. It's stuck on the load.

I made an act as a delegate to verify and i have the same issue.

    Any idea ?

    Thx a lot

  • Hi Jean-Bapiste,

Could they try on another machine to see if they can reproduce this unexpected behavior?

Can you see any error message in the queue and/or in the ULS logs?

Can you also try with another browser (Chrome, Mozilla)?

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Guillaume,

Yes, already made on other computer and as i said, i have the same problem when i delegate as this user.

I also made it on my work's computer and on my personal laptop at home, connected on VPN.

For a Chrome or Firefox try, it can't work as theses functions are only allowed in Internet Explorer 7.0 or above...

    Thx anyway.

  • Thanks for the feedback!

What about the error message in the queue and ULS logs?

Then I would proceed to a detailed check of those 2 PM's projects. Meaning blank lines, special characters, duplicated resources...

    Hope this helps,

    Thx :)

  • As far as I can see, there's not else that the delegation log.

I'd now dig into the projects of the 2 PMs and check items mentionned in my previous reply.

    Hope this helps,

  • My apologies for intrusion.

Based on my experience this type of issue involves some bad assignment associated with specific status manager or if there are many task updates pending. Do  you have MS recommended SQL DB maintenance plan in-place? Runnung SP_updatestats query against Project Server database inmproves the performance.

  • Hello Hrishi,

I asked our DBA to verify the SP_UpdateStats query and it's ok, as a script is running every day to make stats update on necessary tables.

  • Hi Jean-Baptiste,

Did you have a chance to dig into the projects of those 2 PMs to detect any wrong practices that might trigger this unexpected behavior?

    Hope this helps,

For this part, i asked the Project Leader to verify if there are assignments associated with specific status manager.

  • Try putting the browser in compatibility mode.  If that doesn't work.  Try using Chrome.

    Cheers!

  • Hello Michael :)

Thx for your answer, but as said before, Chrome won't work, as the Approval Center can only work on Internet Explorer 7.0 or above.

I made a SQL query to seek how many timesheets are in her approval center and i found 745 entries.

I would like to create a rule to make an automatic approve of all timesheets, with acceptation of my team leader, but for this, i must be on her approval center...

Is there a solution to make an auto approve rule by powershell for another team leader ?

    Thx a lot,

  • When you set each user as their own timesheet approver, the timesheets are approved upon submit.
