  • We recently encountered this issue and it turned out to be that Project Managers were modifying the Task 0 (project task) in their schedules after they had saved / published the schedules.

Scenario:  PM creates, saves, published a project "My First Project" to PWA.

At this moment the Project Name and Task 0 in that Project are = "My First Project".

The PM now see's the Task 0 and decides he does't like that name inside his project schedule - so he changes it.

Now he tries to save the schedule back to PWA - and this error "Root element is missing" is thrown.

We fixed this by going back to the PM, having them put the Task 0 back to the exact same name as the original save name "My First Project" and

    Save now works as expected.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks, Eric S. Pcubed
