Size of MSSQL folder is increasing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Microsoft Office Sharepoint 2007 server with Microsoft SQL Server 2005. The server was running fine. But now my SQL folder size is increasing drastically and it reached 78GB now. The size of the .LDF files in the Data folder of SQL server is consuming this space.  Please suggest a solution to remove unwanted files and resolve the space issue.

  • Hi Sreekanth,

You can move those LDF files to some other drive or I suggest to use a separate DISK.

To move LDF files from one location to another please follow below steps.

    • Run ALTER DATABASE command and change location of ldf file
    • Take database offline
    • Move the physical file from old location to new location.
    • Bring database online

Please let us know if this will help
