How create work for one resource as group resource? RRS feed

  • How create work for one resource as group resource?

Project Server 2016 and Project Professional 2016.

There is one Task in project A. This task has one assignment for this resource for 40 hours. Task duration is 8 hours. Resource has 100% units. But this one resource has 5 work resources inside it. I tried to use material resource but it doesn't have work. Something like material resource having work.

  • Project has no option to assign work to a group representing several people who are members of the group, resources are individual records. You can consider defining a field to identify which group your people belong to.

Team Resources will not address your requirement - the intent of this feature is to allow work to be assigned to a team of people and any member of the team can "self-assign" tasks assigned to the team they belong to - the work then transfers from the team to the individual not to a group of people.

The default Task Type in project allows you to assign multiple resources to the same task with the work increasing as each resource is assigned - you don't have to assign resources @ 100% - if you use the Assign Resource dialog box you can enter work in hours, for example 8h in the units column and project then computes the % allocation based upon the duration of the activity.
