Exchange 2007 5.1.1 errors every few minutes RRS feed

  • User continually getting this Undelivered error in OWA. Exchange queues are clean of this issue, no sent mail to the address in question in the past, passwords have been updated, distribution lists have searched for like addresses to no avail. Someone please help! :-(

    (Note: The domain was legitimate, edited for privacy)

    Well, it says that the generating server is sports.school.edu -- it
    that's not your server then you should contact the admins at that
    domain and aks what the problem is, assuming that the e-mail address
    is really one that exists in that domain.
     
    You can also check your SMTP Send protocol log and verify that you're
    connecting to the correct IP address for that domain. You'll also see
    the complete SMTP conversation, including the 550 event. If it's
    really the correct IP address then maybe they have your IP address (or
    domain) in some blocklist (or maybe your IP address is in some
    DNSBL?).

  • Thanks for the reply. It wound up being on their end, just was very frustrating to have gotten over 5,000 of those in a single 12-hour stretch and no one on our side had even attempted to send any pieces of mail to that domain. But it was entertaining all the same! :-)
