protecting DPMDB on secondary server - inconsistent even after consistency checks RRS feed

  • Question

  • DPM 2010 running 2008 r2.  Have a second DPM server that I am using to protect a primary DPM server.  I select the protected SQL server dbs, and those all sync fine - however I also select the DPMDB database of the primary dpm server itself, and that is always inconsistent, even after multiple consistency checks.

    Any suggestions?

  • Hi

Look in the application and system logs for information why. The primary DPM server shouldn't backup its own DPMDB, the best way is to let the secondary DPM server manage this.

Please post any logs and I will look at it.

  • Nothing in the logs on the secondary server...

I am not backing up the primary DPMDB on the primary server...  the DPMDB of the primary server is being backed up by the secondary server - this is the one that is consistently inconsistent...

  • Just out of interest, if you try to run Windows Backup on the primary Data Protection Manager server does it ever start? I clicked on backup once and seems to be just sitting there with the please wait blue bar.

  • How much free space do you have on your system disk?

  • Just out of interest BMR and System State backups fail as well. All to different servers. I throw this in case it is relevant.
