SSAS Filters - Greyed Out - Excel

-
We have a CUBE and our users are accessing it via Excel. Here's the question:
A biz-user pulled two filters to the excel report.
He selected something in filter #1
He was expecting to see some fields "greying out" in filter #2 (because since filter#1 was applied some of the data would be NULL and he was expecting those filter values in filter #2 to grey out)
But the filter values in #2 did not grey out.
What can we do?
Thanks you!

I'm not quite sure that I understand, but I don't think you can get it right without doing some sort of vba code in the background on excel. I'm not too sure if its worth the effort though.

Hi SSISQ,
I agree with Duane's option. Furthermore, it seems your issue is more related to Excel functionality. So, you can try to post your question in Excel IT Pro Discussions forum:

That approach won't work.
It can be corrected in the design of the cube though, If you build it into a hierarchy on the Dimension.
Hierarchy:
City Hierarchy
--Country - USA
----City New York
---- City Los Angeles
---- City Washington
--Country - South Africa
---- City Durban
---- City Cape Town
---- City Johannesburg
If you combine the country and city filters into 1 on the dimension through a Hierarchy, you could achieve something similar ie expand Country - South Africa and below that you will see only South African cities.
