How to add permissions to a Page viewer web part control in WSS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have added 2 page viewer web controls on my PWA homepage. I have given 2 URLs to these 2 controls. So, when user is accessing the PWA homegpage, he is able to view 2 reports along with other satndard contols. Now, i want only particular USER GROUP should be able to access these page viewer web controls. But currently every user has access to these controls. I could not find permissions settings in the property of page viewer web control and i also do not want to make use of lists for giving permissions to these 2 pages on the homepage.

Please guide me how can i set permissions to these 2 page viewer web parts?

  • Isn't it better to block off the 2 pages instead? Otherwise the users could still just surf to that particular page.

The standard page viewer web control can not have unique security. You will have to develop your own custom webpart for that purpose and f.e. write your logic on wether to show the webpart in the pre-init event.
