Problem: I Can't upgrade Windows 8 ENT to Windows 8.1 ENT RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I've downloaded the ISO (en_windows_8_1_enterprise_x64_dvd_2791088.iso) from Technet. Than I've mounted the iso in Windows 8 Enterprise English (with additional languagepack German + logged in to our domain) and started "setup.exe".

On the screen "Choose what to keep" I can only select "Nothing". But I want to keep my personal settings and files.

Why can't I keep my personal settings and files?

How can I upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1?

    Can you help me, please?

  • Hi,

For the issue, it may be caused by additional language pack.

You need to use the ISO that matches your currently installed Windows 8 language edition.

Meanwhile, don’t add the additional language pack when upgrading.

  • Hi Kelvin

thanks. I think, that the problem is the integrated LP, too.

I integrated 3 LPs in the Win 8.0 EN-Iso (with Dism). Than I installed our PC's.

Now I have no chance to upgrade to Win 8.1.

I've tested to deinstall all LPs and than upgrade with the original Win 8.1-EN-ISO, but no success. I've tested to integrate all 3 LPs in the Win 8.1 EN-ISO, but no success.

Shit happens, I think, that I don't have a chance to upgrade our 200 PCs. :)

Or maybee somebody has an idea, how can I do this.
