removing recovery/replica points immediately from legacy storage? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All

    DPM 2016 UR2

    Server 2016 (physical)

    2x legacy disk storage pools

My aim is to vacate all data off one of the legacy storage pools to convert it to MBS. This will mean I need to destroy some replica and recovery points as I do not have enough room to migrate data across – this is ok.

What is the best way to destroy replica and recovery points immediately in order to remove and then re-add a disk as MBS?

The disk is used for short-term storage but I also have tape and Azure for long term on some of the protection groups.

Can I simply unselect disk as short-term storage from the protection groups and assume the storage will then become in-active which I can delete? (this will leave the protection group intact and continue to be protected by our long term storage options?) Or do I need to stop protection all together and then delete inactive replicas?

    any other advice also appreciated

    Thanks
