  • Hi,

In regarding of the issue, I have a couple of questions:

    Do you use Office 2010?
Which error message and code did you get?

Generally speaking, a corrupted pptx file is hardly to be recovered. But it still worth to have a try.

    • Method 1: Open an existing presentation
    • Method 2: Create a new presentation
    • Method 3: General troubleshooting

  • To recover .ppt file and extract data from it, try few manual ways, such as:

    1. Use MS Word: Browse and open the corrupt PPT file in Word file. If data is recovered in MS Word, move the text       to .ppt format by clicking on “Send To” option and choosing MS PowerPoint application.

    2. Use Insert Menu to insert slides: Create a blank presentation and insert the slides of corrupt PPT file by clicking         on Insert > Slides from Files > Browse corrupt file.

    3. Use “Reuse Slides” option (PowerPoint 2007/2010)

Third way is also quite effective. To know the steps, you may refer to:- http://nalavadebela.wordpress.com/2014/04/03/powerpoint-repair/

  • Hi,

This error message “file content cannot be read” occurs due to corruption. There can be ‘n’ number of reason for this corruption. But that’s not important right now. It require the solution to fix this corruption and repair the corrupted PPTX file. Here I am going to introduce you to the 3 hacks to repair PowerPoint slides.

Hack 1: Copy PowerPoint Slides into another PowerPoint files
In this, you need to create new PowerPoint slides to repair them completely. It simply require to import the full content of corrupted files into new slides. After copying the whole content into new slides. Save them into another location. The previous folder might be dealing with some virus or malware. So, by saving the newly created PPTX file in another folder save the file from corruption.

Hack 2: Open PPTX files as theme template
For this, you need to open the blank file and add the slides into it. Then, click on File>> Save as and save the file with new name. After this go to design tab to choose the desired theme. Browse the corrupted PPTX file and theme will be added to the slides. Import the file and save the file with different name and location.

Hack 3: Open PPTX File in Safe Mode
This is more effective way to repair PowerPoint files. Try to open the corrupt PPTX file in Safe Mode. This will display only basic text not all the formatting. Then, it will make the editing and formatting easy in the PowerPoint slides. When file open in “Safe Mode” then, safe mode will be written with the file name.

If above-solution doesn't provide satisfactory result then, you can try SysTools PowerPoint Recovery Tool. And for the step by step procedure read this article: www.systoolsgroup.com/updates/repair-pptx-file/. Hoping these manual solution will solve corrupted PPTX file issues.
