SharePoint Multiple alerts RRS feed

  • Hi

    we have a SharePoint list and on add/update of the items it sends alerts. The issue is users are receiving multiple emails for each add/update. Can anyone help us resolve this issue?

    Does this problem arises to everyone or a special user?

    If it just appears in one user, you can check if you have the following situations:


    1. Having a duplicate alert.

      To check this, you need go to site Action>Site Settings>User alerts.

    2. The user is a member of the group which having an alert on the same item.

    3. Having some workflow to send email at the same time.


      If you doesn't have these situations, you can try to delete the alert altogether and then set it up again to fix it.


    If this arises to all users, you can try restarting the timer job called "Immediate Alerts". Here is an article about the relationship between Alert and Timer job.
