What should I put for my DC dns ip address?

    Question

  • I have 3 domain controllers.

    DCVM3 - DC - 192.168.1.1
    DCVMODD - GC - 192.168.1.2
    DCVMEVEN - GC - 192.168.1.3

Right now the dns entries are a jumbled mess. Some of the ip address in the dns do no exist anymore.

Should I put the DCVM3 ip in the primary dns and 127.0.0.1 in the secondary?

I'm trying to add a 4th DC and I saw the current mess and decided to fix it but I'm not sure.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • Hi JohnnyMusso,

Just to check if the above reply could be of help?

Generally, for DC, it's recommended to set Primary DNS server address with the DC's IP address and set 127.0.0.1 as alternative DNS server.

    Best Regards,

    Anne
