Persistent Chat Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Sirs,

I have been troubleshooting a persistent chat issue where users cant access room management url or even search for rooms, they cant chat in rooms or even appear as a member although they actually are.

on client eventviewer the below error appears, while on frontend server no errors appear in lync log. I could not check the asp-net log but my os is fully updated and latest skype cu installed.

A SIP request made by Lync failed in an unexpected manner (status code 80ef0194). More information is contained in the following technical data:

  • Hi Alex Kal,

Does this issue persist all the time?

In my research, there are three privacy settings for persistent chat.

1.Open: Anyone can find (via search) this room, open it, and read and write in (post to) it. Open rooms have no “membership” as such.

2.Closed: Non-members can find this room and see who is a member, but only members can open the room and read or post to it. (This is the default setting.)

To join a closed room, the user must ask a manager of the room to be added to the members list. The room card identifies the chat room managers.

3.Secret: Non-members can't find this room or its room card, learn who has membership in the room, or read or post to it.

So, I suggest you check this setting first.

According to the log, maybe you could check the configuration of Persistent Chat server.
