    Question

  • I need to modify a driver .inf file, to add a custom VID\PID. I get an access denied when I try to save it. HOw can I do this?

  • Where are you trying to edit this file? If in any of the windows drivers stores it will be protected and most likely would get overwritten with the original later anyhow.

    Saying that I have found copying protected files to the desktop for example, editing them, then copying them back works.

    Please try to take ownership of the file and gain full control of the file then copy it to desktop then modify it and copy it back.
