Integration MDT2013 with sccm2012 r2

Question
-
I have a few questions regarding the integration of MDT2013 with SCCM r2:
1. After MDT2013 installed do I need to create a new deployment share under MDT deployment workbench, or just run the Configure ConfigMgr Integration?
2. Do I need to create a MDT boot image to replace the existing one from the sccm 2012 r2 installation (maybe from the ADK8.1)?
3. what is the best way to create the MDT package?
thanks in advance

1. no you do not need to create a new deployment share unless you want to use MDT capability by itself for some reason, you should integrate MDT with Configuration Manager.
2. no you do not need to create an MDT boot image unless you specifically require an MDT boot image and the additional functionality it provides
3. to create the MDT package (toolkit package) and MDT Settings package, go through the create MDT Task Sequence wizard after integrating MDT with Configuration Manager, there are steps in that task sequence wizard to allow you to create the MDT Toolkit and MDT Settings packages

But, what additional functionalities MDT boot images provide?
